On the road again and our first rally.

I'm behind on my posts. No supprise there. So to give you a point of reference the date of this post should be March 2nd through the 13. Hey I'm in the same month at least.

We left Rancho California and headed to Yuma Az. I know we have already been there, but we are going to our first ever Rally in Tucson and Yuma made a nice stop for a couple of reasons. 1st is that we like to park, Shangri La, and second we wanted to go back to Mexico. Not a lot of pictures this trip as nothing really has changed in 5 months but here are a few from Mexico.
We love this little restaurant that we visited the last time. Fabulous shrimp tacos for $1.25 each and live music. Oh and cervesa and margaritas also of course.

A bigger plaza with music, food and drinks.
While we were in Mexico we did some shopping. Leather goods are cheep as well as dental work and eye glasses. There are literally hundreds of dentists and eye glass stores in this little town. We didn't visit a dentist but Lynn did get a new pair of glasses for $200. In the states it would of cost 400 to 500.

What we like about Shangri La is the people. The day we arrived we were invited to play poker and bingo. No we didn't win but a good time was had by all.

Now on to our first Rally. While we were in California we joined Escapees RV club. This is unlike any other group we have come across. The main reason is that it is a social club. And when I say social I mean social. It is not uncommon for members to hug upon meeting new members.

The rally, or Escapade as they call it, was an opportunity to network with other full timers, people of like interests, and to learn about the care and maintenance of our home on wheels. The days were full of seminars and workshops from sewer systems, to woodcarving, jewelry making to the latest electronic gadgets to make life easier on the road. I won't bore you with the details of what we did but we did attend a lot of seminars. I ever took a wood carving class. We were so busy that we didn't even take that many pictures. Here are a few.

A beautiful sunset on our last night. Taken from my roof.

Over 200 RV's were are the Escapade.
Lynn visiting with new friends.

The view behind us.

Was it a good experience? Yes. Would we do it again? We are. The next one is on the east coast and we are planning on being there. And if you haven't joined Escapees you should think about it. I have seen tow of their co-op parks and not only are they inexpensive but the social aspect is great. It's only $30.00 a year. We don't regret it at all.

Well that's all for now. Thanks again for visiting our blog and maybe someday we will see you down the road.
