On to the Grand Canyon

We left Tucson and the Escapade and headed up to the Grand Canyon. If you are a follower of this blog you might remember that we were hoping to go there back in October of 2014 but we got stuck in Tuscon waiting for parts to be manufactured and then shipped to finish our repairs. But we finally made it.

We really lucked out and we were able to get reservations at Trailer Village RV Park inside the National Park and a 15 minute walk to the south rim of the canyon. This allowed us to see not only the sunset in the canyon, but also the sunrise without having to get up an hour and a half early so we could travel to the park.

For those of you who haven't been to the canyon put it on your bucket list. This is a must see and these pictures don't come close to the beauty that you will see. The sheer size of it is beyond your imagination. Enough talk. Here are a few pictures.

The first signs of color.

The clouds get into the act.

Some of the best views are away from the sunrise.  The light playing on the canyon walls is beautiful!

There she is.

Daylight.
The best thing about being so close to the rim is that you get to see the canyon during different times of the day. It's always different with the way the light dances across the canyon.

We also took a hike below the rim.which is another unique perspective.

One of 2 tunnels on the trail.

This is the supply train for the resort down in the canyon. Oh, and they carry mail also.

About a mile and a half down there is a rest area with bathrooms. Great planning on someones part.

I don't know and I didn't ask. What happens in the canyon, stays in the canyon.
Actually it was some sort of photo shoot, but I first saw her from below the rim standing on an outcropping. It looked like she was attempting to fly. Just a little freaky.

Well next stop is in the wrong direction than we originally planned. A slight jog east again for the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest.

See you down the road.
